About Laura Bergen:
Laura was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from Friends University with a BA in Music Theatre. From an early age, she was drawn to storytelling and the way the arts can inspire people. During her college training, that passion grew into a calling to direct, choreograph, and invest in the next generation of young performers.

For more than twenty years, Laura has worked with students of all ages, intentionally creating a safe space where young performers can feel both called higher and championed. Her heart for arts education began in Wichita, where she taught dance, served as the Drama Director for a non-profit children’s ministry, and helped launch a children’s theater. Since moving to Colorado Springs in 2010, she has continued teaching and directing across local high schools, community theaters, children’s theater programs, dance studios, and summer intensives.

Currently, Laura teaches weekly dance and acting classes at Turning Pointe Dance and serves as the Artistic Director of Starz Theater Company. Over the last decade, she has also helped develop both Young Performer Summit and the Musical Theater Program at Turning Pointe Dance.

Favorite Colorado Springs directing & choreography credits include Mary Poppins (Choreographer), Newsies (Director and Choreographer), Beauty and the Beast (Director), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Choreographer), Fiddler on the Roof (Director), and The Prince of Egypt (Director).
