Mission

The Starz Theater Company Student Assistant program exists to train future leaders as they serve, observe, and are examples to younger students. 

Student Assistants work directly with our Creative Team and have a unique and active role in helping bring the show to the stage. These students forego the cast experience and focus on servant leadership throughout the season. These students lead the charge in demonstrating how to be a voice of encouragement and strength while giving their time to serve in all aspects of the production. Throughout their time, they are mentored by the Creative Team and there are various opportunities that will arise for Student Assistants to step into peer leadership under the guidance of the Directors. 

Requirements

• Applicant must be between 15-19 years old.

• Applicant should have at least one year of performing experience with Starz Theater Company. Exceptions to this requirement allowed on a case-by-case basis.

• Applicant should be actively enrolled in at least one class at Turning Pointe Dance and continue in their classes for the duration of the season they are serving for

• Applicant must be in good standing with Starz Theater Company and Turning Pointe Dance

• Applicant must have reliable transportation for all rehearsals and events

• Applicant understands that, if chosen to be an SA, they may not audition for the show

Additional requirements for those applying for a genre specific Student Assistants (Choreography/Vocal/Stage Crew):

• Applicant must be 16-19 years of age

• Applicant must have extensive training and experience in the area they are applying for

• Applicant must be approved for and enrolled in a TPD 4A/4B/5 class

• Specific requirements listed for each role listed in the application

Applications

SCHOOL YEAR: Online Applications for our Season 14 School Year show (Oklahoma Youth Edition) will open on July 20, 2026. Applications will close on August 15, 2025. Students will also need to sign up for and complete an interview. Applicants will be sent the link to sign up for interviews in early September.

SUMMER: Online Applications for our Season 14 Summer show (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) will open on January 1, 2027. Applications will close on February 15, 2027. Students will also need to sign up for and complete an interview. Applicants will be sent the link to sign up for interviews in early March.
