Summer TPD Musical Theater Program Class Descriptions

musical theater Voice & Acting CLASSES

Class Showcase of Disney’s FINDING NEMO KIDS
Ages 8-14. Perform onstage! Students will learn core acting, theater and vocal skills as they prepare and perform the musical Finding Nemo Kids. This charming 30-minute musical, especially designed for young performers, is based on the 2003 Pixar film, Finding Nemo. No audition required to participate in the show, however space in class is limited. The Turning Pointe Showcase of Disney’s Finding Nemo Kids performance will be July 15 at CSCS.
Class length: 2 hrs/week.

(Disney’s Finding Nemo KIDS is presented through special arrangement with and all materials are provided by Music Theatre International.)

Musical Theater Director’s Chair Class
Theater is a collaborative process. Successful productions rely on the creativity and collaboration of a team consisting of directors, choreographers, and designers (to name a few). In the summer-session directing class, students will have an opportunity to participate in this production side of theatre. Students will be split into production teams, and they will be given the opportunity to direct their peers in short scenes. At the end of the summer session, these student-led production teams will present their work on July 15th at CSCS.

Musical Theater Dance CLASSES

Musical Theater Combo | Level 1, Ages 7-9
In the style of The Little Mermaid
This combo-style class brings the Triple Threat skills of singing, dancing & acting together! Using music from the show, students will learn musical theater jazz dance, storytelling and choreography.
Entry level - no experience required. Class length: 1 hr/week.

Musical Theater Combo | Preteen Level, Ages 10-11
In the style of Seussical
This combo-style class brings the Triple Threat skills of singing, dancing & acting together! Using music from the show, students will learn musical theater jazz dance, storytelling and choreography.
Entry level - no experience required. Class length: 1 hr/week.

Musical Theater Combo | Teen Level, Ages 12+
In the style of Beauty and the Beast
This combo-style class brings the Triple Threat skills of singing, dancing & acting together! Using music from the show, students will learn musical theater jazz dance, storytelling and choreography.

Musical Theater Dance Workshops - 3-Day Workshops | Level 3A/3B/4A/4B/5
Get your JAZZ on! The TPD Musical Theater Dance Workshops offer six hours of fast-paced dance-focused training that helps students stay on top of their curriculum skills throughout the summer. During the workshops, students will learn the choreography styles and dance combos to some of their favorite musicals! Join the fun and come back from summer break strong! See more details below. Teacher Approval Required. Class length: 2hr/Day for 3 consecutive days.

In addition to the Musical Theater program, Turning Pointe offers training in Tap, Swing, Ballet, Jazz, Worship, Irish, Hip Hop, Modern and Contemporary dance styles. All classes are taught by YPAD Certified, professional and encouraging instructors.

Designed for TPD students in MT levels 3A-5.
